In skid-steer mode, the A220 loader can counter rotate, meaning it can basically turn 360[degrees] within its own length. In all-wheel steer, the machine has an inside turning circle of roughly 10 ft. "It''s still pretty maneuverable in all-wheel steer," said Fitzgerald. "But if you do actually need to stop and turn 90[degrees], you change it into skid-steer mode and you''re off and running."The standard machine has a maximum travel speed of 6.2 mph, while a two-speed option takes that up to 12.4 mph. unibordrillpress Like its 863 ancestor, it packs a lot of power into a compact envelope (135.4 in. long, 82.3 in high and 74.2 in. wide), with a rated operating capacity of 2200 lb. and a tipping load is 4400 lb. Operating weight is 7745 lb. "That''s about 700 lb. more than an 863 skid-steer loader because of the added componentry," Fitzgerald said. "But it has a 2200 lb. capacity instead of the 1900 lb. that we have in the 863." "By managing where and when the power is desired, we can provide fuel savings, emissions and productivity enhancements," Orr said. "With control of an accessory independent of engine speed, we can reduce accessory drag on an unibordrillpress engine during engine cranking to enhance cold weather unibordrillpress starting. Starting an electric engine oil pump just prior to engine cranking, for example, can provide a pre-lube function."Orr was describing the concept of unibordrillpress Cat Electronics'' MorElectric system unveiled about a year ago. The MorElectric system is designed to drive a vehicle''s air unibordrillpress conditioner, brake air compressor, water pump and other accessories electrically, versus being belt or gear driven. The system also includes a newly developed HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) package as well as an optional diesel-powered auxiliary power unit. The Bobcat A220 loader has gone into regular production at Bobcat''s Gwinner, N.D., manufacturing facility. Skid steers come in handy for all kinds of chores, and a growing selection of attachments makes them even more useful. Sure, skid steers are still great for moving dirt, but new add-ons make mixing cement, trimming trees, and mulching a snap. Most skid steer manufacturers sell attachments designed specifically for their loaders, but independent companies offer some great products as well.
