177ONT planterAnd adding to the already extensive line-up of seeding equipment, John Deere introduces the most productive 24 row 30-inch-spaced planter in it''s history, the new 177ONT CCS front-fold planter.Designed with a new frame, new hydraulics, new drive system, and new markers, this planter offers more value and covers more acres in less time than any other 24-row planter on the market. The planter has been re-designed mortisecutdrillpresssimple with a new, stronger frame to handle the toughest conditions. mortisecutdrillpresssimple It is a 3-section flexible frame with a new vertical truss design. A massive 16- x 8-inch telescoping hitch improves maneuverability and adds mortisecutdrillpresssimple strength to the planter. The increase of one horsepower over the GC160 and GCVl60, to 6.0 horsepower and 6.5 horsepower for the GC190 and GCV190 respectively, was achieved through an increase of displacement from 160 to 187 cc. This also results in a 0.5 lb.ft. torque increase mortisecutdrillpresssimple for both engines, with the GC190 delivering 8.9 lb.ft., and the GCVI90 delivering 8.1 lb.ft.To maintain reliability mortisecutdrillpresssimple with the higher output, internal components have been strengthened with a stronger piston pin, larger connecting rod, larger rod journal and redesigned oil control ring. "Changing from conventional to an intensive grazing operation," is the biggest management change for Robert Cessac of Higbee, Missouri. "This has saved on hay and feed costs by 75%," he says. "I feed hay only from February 1 to maybe mid-March, depending on snowfall. And the cattle handle much easier and are more gentle. I can handle my cattle mostly by myself now." Even relatively low-tech grazing systems depend on good technology. High-tensile electric fence, polywire, and solar electric fencers all get mention in the survey.Kim Klocke of Arlington, Iowa, likes his IntelliShock solar electric fencer made by Premier. He has had it four years and says it operates without a hitch. Klocke runs 75 stock cows and 80 ewes on 260 acres of grass and pasture. ©2003 www.drill-press.net All rights reserved. |
