There''s a shovel of dirt lurking on many farms that threatens to cost thousands of dollars in equipment repair and downtime. And it''s hiding in a place most farmers will never look. That place is inside their diesel storage tanks where mismanagement and misunderstanding have allowed the threat to grow.Last summer, Successful Farming magazine worked with petroleum experts from Country Energy LLC, a regional fuel supplier formed by Farmland Industries and Cenex Harvest States, and employees of the Andale Farmers Co-op, Andale, Kansas, to help make farmers aware of this threat. We shared the $110 cost of sampling and cleaning diesel storage tanks on 20 farms in south central Kansas. Though stored gasoline also gets dirty, we didn''t include it because fewer engine problems result. Youthful vehicular infatuation never fades; a driver''s license is the one adult perquisite that turns out not to be Magnetic even mildly disappointing. I''m a snob about walking on my home course, but at resort courses, when carts are required, I dibs the driver''s seat.Perversely, courses mini drill press that require carts are often poorly laid out for driving. cartpaths are situated in places where golf balls rarely go, such as on the left. if you are required to keep your cart on the path, you can end up walking farther than you would have if you hoofed it. i once watched a golfer walk 75 yards from the path to examine his ball, which was lying in the rough 300 yards from the green; walk 75 yards back to his cart to get a club; walk 75 yards back to his ball; press top the ball 50 yards forward; walk 75 yards back to get another club (his 250-yard club, i guess); drive his cart 50 yards forward, etc. tractor has kohler command 20-hp. engine; 35-hp. hydrostatic transmission with foot pedal; 40-hp.-rated hydraulic magnetic motor with high-pressure shaft seals; cast-iron rear axles with positraction and output hand drill press torque of 3,300 ft. lbs.; and press roll over protective structure (rops) that meets osha requirements. hydraulic valves withstand 3,500 p.s.i. and flow rates of 25 g.p.m. front valve uses wobble stick control; magnetic rear valves feature large handles and extra-light springs to minimize operator fatigue. high-backed seat drill has adjustable track, 2-position swivel lock, and retractable seat belt. caterpillar has launched its new d-series line of backhoe loaders with improved pilot-operated hydraulic controls heading the list of improvements. the new line, which includes the 416d, 420d and the 430d machines, is designed to replace the c- series backhoe loaders introduced several years ago. the 420d and 430d are also available in integrated press tool carrier (it) configurations. ©2003 www.drill-press.net All rights reserved. |
