Renting the augerYou may not have many auger choices at smaller rental stores, but if you go to a how to use air hammer chisel larger outlet or a home center that rents power tools, you''ll to have to choose between a two- or one-person (see p. 70) power auger head, as well as select the correctly sized auger itself. auger drills are interchangeable use and come in 4-, 6-, 8- or 12-in. drill and press diameters. the one to choose depends on the type of how to use impact wrench posts you''re installing. remember, the larger the diameter, the tougher it is to handle the machine. if you''re pouring 12-in. footings for a deck, you''ll obviously need the 12-in. auger (photo 3), but for 4x4 posts, pick up an 8-in. auger. you''ll be able to get away with a 6-in. auger for steel fence posts. keep in mind that you''ll need a larger hole (and a larger auger) if you''ll be filling around the post with concrete. the 4-in. auger to will work for any small post that doesn''t use need concrete poured around it. i use the 12-in. auger for all but the smallest posts because the extra space drill allows me to move the post around for exact placement. most pressure washers that you''ll find for rent or sale are gas-powered. this press type can deliver higher water pressure than the electric kind, some how to use air nailer more than 3,000 psi. but gas-powered washers also require more water: 2 to 3 gpm. these washers are the best choice for bigger jobs like to preparing siding for painting (photo 2), removing use "aging" stains from wood decks (photo 5) and deep-cleaning concrete. you can rent one for about $60 a day, plus the cost of accessories like chemical injectors (photo 1) or longer spray wands for reaching high places. gas-powered washers (non-commercial units) cost $300 to $800 depending on the pressure they deliver, their features and the engine and pump quality. * tighten all hose connections so no air can enter the lines.* set the spray wand to a low- or no-pressure setting to prevent recoil, or kickback, when the washer is started. electric washers and gas washers with variable nozzles should be on low-pressure, wide fan settings. gas washers with individual nozzle tips (photos, p. 30) should have their nozzle tip removed at this drill point.* press completely turn on the water faucet at the house. squeeze the spray wand trigger to prime the pump and purge air from the system. ©2003 www.drill-press.net All rights reserved. |
