I''d like to begin the new year with a discussion of the basics of a diesel fuel system with an in-line pump and follow up in February with the distributor mini drill press type pump system. as you know, all diesel systems press have a fuel tank, one fuel filter (possibly more depending on the installation), a transfer pump, a high-pressure fuel-injection pump, high pressure fuel lines, low-pressure fuel lines, injector nozzles, and sometimes return (fuel overflow) lines. figure 1 represents a typical diesel fuel system.
