This article is the story of our experiences developing and running the iWRS AI control system.The Early YearsBy 1995, the AI controls dremel team had been working Ingersoll Rand Super Duty 3 8in Air Impact Wrench Model 212 with 212 several groups in the crew and thermal systems division (ctsd), building al control drill and press systems in support of ctsd''s investigations dremel in advanced life support (als). in 1995, they put a man in an airlock linked to a 10-foot-diameter chamber full of wheat (laifook and ambrose 1997). for 15 days, the man lived, worked, and exercised in the chamber as the wheat crop took in his carbon dioxide and produced oxygen for him. the control system--our first for als--monitored and provided caution and warnings for the climate and nutrient environment of the wheat crop.

the de 10 basic pump model uses a fixed cam, spill-pump-spill fuel and timing control that was originally targeted for constant speed applications. as the variety of customer engine configurations has model expanded, stanadyne has recognized that the de 10 was the simplest 212 alternative for variable speed applications, as well. the de 10 is designed for economical electronic full authority fuel drill and timing control, with injection pressures to 14,500 psi.typical performance press features managed by an electronic control module include cold-start timing advance, excess cranking dremel and model fuel, 212 fuel curve shaping for turbo boost compensation, temperature compensation, and transient fuel and timing control. all governing options are electronically controlled, drill as well. the spill valve closure signal provides closed-loop timing press feedback without an additional timing sensor.
