Upgrading petroleum storage is largely a voluntary effort by farmers. EPA regulations dating back to 1972 require secondary containment on all above-ground tanks larger than 660 gallons, or where fuel storage exceeds 1,320 gallons. However, these rules predate 1984 amendments, which don''t mention these requirements. Few states enforce the delta regulations.Underground tanks larger than 1,100 gallons face more regulations. In 1988, mini drill press and press the epa estimated one fourth of the 1.8 million buried fuel tanks were leaking. since then, most have been removed or replaced with noncorrosive 20 tanks. if you''re planning a project that requires lots of postholes, trust me--a power auger will speed up the process. i''ve dug hundreds of auger-generated postholes. my personal best 400 is delta thirty 42-in. hand drill press deck footings in a single day--whew! but if you think they''ll make digging holes a picnic, think again. they''ll save you blisters, but at the press end of the day, your back, legs and arms may be in worse shape than if you had dug the holes by hand.you''ll need to dig up a very willing 20 and 400 and delta friend to help you run drill most power augers, and you''ll both need strong backs, legs and arms to wrestle the press machine around. augers are very powerful machines with a lot of torque that can throw you like a sack of potatoes if the auger 20 bit encounters 400 a rock or a root. ©2003 www.drill-press.net All rights reserved. |
