Firwin was started as an expansion of Industrial Diesel Products, Inc. in 1982, a company that had its roots in the equipment maintenance, service and spare parts business. Firwin was set up specifically to produce exhaust insulation blankets. The company was sold clausingdrillpress to its present owners in 1989 and since clausingdrillpress then has grown significantly. Firwin has since broadened its focus clausingdrillpress to include insulation blankets for industrial, process industry and spray shields.A testimony to the company s growth has been the growth of its facilities. Its beginnings were a humble 800 sq.ft. Later, the company expanded into a 5000 sq.ft. facility and most recently, it doubled itself again, moving into a 10,000 sq.ft. site. This new building includes offices and manufacturing and is also completely climate controlled and filtered for worker comfort and improved quality control.

Historically, these machines have been referred to as "go karts" for lack of a better name. Today, the industry has a variety of small, gas engine-driven, low-to-the-ground vehicles, so more descriptive names are used based on the karts'' intended applications. Amusement and arcade parks rent the more heavily constructed karts for fun clausingdrillpress seekers to operate on a confined track. Then there are the paved-track racers that are commercially and/or association operated, where the drivers bring their high-speed, low-to-the-ground machines to the track. And finally, there is the OPE fun kart industry that supplies karts for unstructured recreation in wide-open spaces; these are the karts that I will be covering in the series.
