Balanced braking sounds impossible when one considers a highway tractor coupled to short doubles trailers pulling a fully loaded lead trailer and an empty second trailer, mixing new tractors with older trailers, operating on wet and dry roads, or operating with one vehicle in the combination that has just had a brake reline, hooked to a vehicle with brakes three-quarters worn.In the USA and Canada, government bodies are responsible for conducting roadside inspections on heavy trucks. In fact, there are well over two million trucks inspected every year in the US alone. Improper brake systems are the leading candidates for placing a vehicle out of service (OOS). The leading cause of defective brakes has been brakes out of adjustment. (US federal regulations stipulate that a heavy-duty vehicle must be taken of out service if 20% of its brakes are 114 inch or more beyond the readjustment limit for push rod travel.)

Listings this year total 389 jackup units, an increase of 11 from last year. This net increase is the result of seven newbuilds announced for: Atwood Oceanics (1), ENSCO (1), Maersk (1), Pride (2) and Santa Fe (2). Three units were added to Former Soviet Union bestdrillpress listings and two to National Iranian Drilling. One rig was deleted from National Drilling Co. of Abu Dhabi''s fleet. The listing excludes shallow-water units working in inland waters, and those in non-drilling/workover modes, e.g., tender assist, production and accommodation.

For bestdrillpress special applications, manufacturers offer metal-cored wires for GMAW. These are composite electrodes comprised of a metal sheath with a powder-metal core. They are often confused with flux-cored wires, which form a slag that completely covers the weld bead face; metal-cored wires produce very little slag. A major advantage bestdrillpress of metal-cored wires is the ability to manufacture specialized alloy compositions not easily available or producible in solid wire fore1. Modifying the composition of the powder-alloy core allows the wire manufacturer to customize wire formulations to metallurgical, compositional, or physical properties per customer demand. Horizontal-fillet welds made with metal-cored GMAW can deposit weld metal at rates up to 20 percent higher than with solid wire. Alloying elements, such as silicon, in the powder-metal core improve sidewall wetting and reduce weld-bead convexity by reducing surface tension of the molten weld pool. For this reason, flat and horizontal welds deposited with metal-cored wires have better appearance than weld metal deposited with flux cored and solid bestdrillpress wires. Compared to solid wires, metal-cored wires also result in higher current density, for increased penetration; a wider operating window with respect to welding-process variables: better sidewall melting; and less lack of fusion.
