What applications present the biggest challenge in terms of machine productivity?Carl/Ringfeder: Industrial applications, such as highly corrosive environments requiring special stainless steels, are the biggest challenges. Applications in which a locking device is dimensionally too large to fit into a component, or in which the torque requirements are beyond the capability of any device on the market, can also present a challenge.Blair/Ruland: The bolt pattern on locking devices can bring many challenges. Because of the time required to loosen and tighten the bolts, locking devices are not well suited for applications that require regular adjustments. Confined areas can also pose problems because of limited access to the bolt heads. Another challenge for locking devices is equipment with extended length shafts, which can be difficult to service because of the disassembly required, especially if the shaft is supported at both ends.

"One of the customers we have is reworking a golf course. The golf course manager has a skid-steer for doing some of the dirt work they need to do, but he can never take it out on the course because they don''t want to damage the grass. With A220 he can follow the cart path, turn and go out where he needs to without disturbing the sod."There are many other applications we are looking at. Such as, airports might look at this for snow removal. They''ve got big machines for the runways, but they could use something smaller in and around the gate areas. There are many other markets where the standard skid steer loader has seen limited duty before. The A220 allows us to pursue those markets more solidly."

I''d like to begin the new year with a discussion of the basics of a diesel fuel system with an in-line pump and follow up in February with the distributor type pump system. As you know, all diesel systems have adminidrillpress a fuel tank, one fuel adminidrillpress filter (possibly more adminidrillpress depending on the installation), a transfer pump, a high-pressure fuel-injection pump, high pressure fuel lines, low-pressure fuel lines, injector nozzles, and sometimes adminidrillpress return (fuel overflow) lines. Figure 1 represents a typical diesel fuel system.
