New toolsSomething I found quite exciting, and truly new, is the Electronic Manifold Plus from Robinair. It''s a digital electronic refrigerant 20drillpress gauge with a built-in thermometer that provides pressure readings with an accuracy of +/1/2%! It also gives the saturation temperatures for 13 of the most common refrigerants. In addition, it can calculate superheat and subcooling temperatures for each of the refrigerants.Another tool -- but not a new one -- is Imperial Eastman''s Quick-Tite Ratchet 20drillpress Wrenches (they come as a set of different sizes). These circular ratcheting tools are made for tightening refrigerant-line-coupling nuts to condensing units and evaporators, and have an arm that opens up to go around the lines.

One example: Coastcast has implemented a "high energy drag finishing" line where cast heads are installed on fixtures and run through a finishing media. This operation not only runs 24 hours per day but helps to reduce one of the main causes of scrapped heads overpolishing when it''s done by hand. Moreover, while Coastcast''s titanium club heads are cast in Gardena, Calif., they are finished just across the border in Mexicali, Mexico, where labor costs are substantially lower. Rolfe emphasized that the realities of Asian competition mean that it was imperative for a North American club head producer to 20drillpress squeeze out costs.

Most air-cooled products (including chillers, rooftop units, and condensing units) use DX evaporators. Most DX systems allow oil to travel through the refrigeration circuit and back to the compressor oil sump. Great care must be taken during design to provide 20drillpress oil return, particularly at part load, when refrigerant flow rates are reduced.Water-cooled chillers often use flooded evaporators. In a flooded evaporator, even small amounts of oil can coat evaporator tubes and significantly diminish chiller performance. This can lead to an elaborate oil-recovery system. Magnetic bearings eliminate the need for these systems and oil management in general. In fact, the only required regular maintenance of the compressor is the quarterly tightening of the terminal screws, the annual blowing off of dust and cleaning of the boards, and the changing 20drillpress of the capacitors every five years. Complete service agreements and extended maintenance contracts can be provided by the manufacturer.
